Heather angel Macro Research
Heather angel was born in 1941 the daughter of an RAF officer
Her love of the natural world began during her childhood summer holidays spent on her maternal grandparents' Suffolk farm. It was therefore a natural progression for her to study zoology at University; but at that time she had no ambition to be a photographer.
It was not until her 21 st birthday when her dad bought her a
Exakta camera in which she use on a
3-month underwater expedition to Norway , It was on this expedition that she got to know Martin Angel, whom she married in 1964
A period of marine biological research followed when Heather began to write articles on marine life ,
Her work has been recognised by world-wide honours and awards. In 1986, an Honorary Doctorate of Science was conferred on her by Bath University.
When Nottingham University appointed her a Special Professor in 1994, she was the first British wildlife photographer to be so honoured.
In 1998, the BioCommunications Association of USA made her their 1998 Louis Schmidt Laureate.
Heather Angel has produced many macro photos and does seminars on macro photography teaching how to take stunning macro shots by careful composition, critical focusing and selective use of depth of field.
Heather showed how to select the best lighting for different subjects and when to use reflectors, diffusers and fill-flash.
Heather Angel macro work
I love the colour and sharpness of this image
and the refection in the birds eyes
The texture of the birds feathers is showing great detail
the way the two colours stand out and the tonal range are great .
This is a beautiful photo of a lady bird on a yellow plant
I love the colour and detail of the lady bird
I like the depth of Field of the photo with the background blurred
Ive never seen a lady bird like this before so be interested to know where it comes from
This is a good photo of a dragon fly on a Lilly plant
It has a good rule of thirds
The flower seems to be the main focus point with the flower sharp
with nice texture and colour
The sun looks like its out with the shadow
of the dragonfly showing on the edge of the leaf
This is a close up of some reptiles eye it has great detail
and he texture of hes skin is great
The lines around the eye draw you round to the eye
Th focus point was the center of the eye
There are many circle shapes in the frame
This looks like simple photo at first hand
But the details in the leaf and the colour
of the reds make this a good photo
With the sky tone in the background all of one shade
make the leaf more focused and sharp
The composition of the leaf on the right side
and the space around it make it a better photo
This is a close up of a plant showing the new growth from
the old leafs
It looks like it may be a crop on this photo
It has good detail and the new leafs are in sharp focus
It has a good depth of field with the background out of focus
It has good leading lines
