Statement of Intent , Theme two Architectural

Statement of Intent Theme two Architectural

Intentions

For this them i have chose to photography architectural
I like Tudor buildings and old buildings and there are many in warwickshire area
I hope to capture some images from when I visits and the towns around me

Reason for theme
I have chosen the theme of architecture because i have not really done it before in much detail and I'm
curious if i can capture 10 good images , I hope to capture the details and beauty of the architecture i come across in my local area .

Equipment

Canon 450d
Canon 18-55mm lens i will use this lens manly in the wide angle 18mm to capture the whole of a building
Canon 28-70mm lens to get closer detail and equality of image
Canon 50mm to get a more quality shot
Tripod or monopod for poor light and darkness . A tripod is a great help for using slower shutter speeds

Lighting

I will hopefully use ambient light manly trying to capture the sun and shadows on the buildings i come across
A tripod or monopod will help and can be used at night fall to help with exposure

Health and safety

Keeping equipment dry
Do not run with your camera
Be careful of ice and slippy surfaces
If using a tripod make sure it is stable
When changing lenses be careful of getting dust or water into your lens or camera

Statement of intent , Theme one Macro

Statement of intent

Theme 1

Macro

Intentions
I will try and capture close up in nature from a water droplet to a butterfly , what ever i come across
i hope to get close up and capture the beauty we miss with the naked eye .

Reason for this Theme

I luv macro because you never know what your gonna get till you look through the view finder
I'm always curious how a photo will come out after you have took it ,some times you see more than you even saw through the view finder capturing hidden worlds .

Equipment

Canon 450d
canon 50mm f/1.8  lens  . Used with close up filters you can get surprising results
Tamron 60mm Macro lens .
Tripod  . To help with poor light
Flashgun . To help with getting a better exposure
hot shoe lead .To help with changing the direction of the light on a subject

Techniques

I will use just my natural techniques of just getting up close with the subject and trying to get the best composition to show the subject to its best
Using the best manual setting for the natural light around me and using a steady hand to get sharp detail
Post production will be using cs4

Lighting

As with macro photography ambient light can decrease the closer you get to a subject so i will balance the  ISO with the shutter speed and aperture to try and get a good exposure
I will use my on board flash to help with exposure and my flash gun .

Health and safety

Be wary as you look though a view finder you do not always no where you are stepping so always be careful where your next step is taken
Keeping equipment dry
Do not run with your camera
Be careful of ice and slippy surfaces
If using a tripod make sure it is stable
When changing lenses be careful of getting dust or water into your lens or camera
The care of the insect or livening plant you are shooting do not disturb nature let it be and try and capture the beauty you see .

Level 3 certificate in specialist photography and presentation

unit 211 Photo image presentation
unit 307 location photography

This is the 2 units I'm going to do

The 211 photo imagining is mandatory and involves presenting 10 thematic images and producing a written account explaining the choice of presentation methods

The 307 location photography you have to produce a minimum of 20 photos
you have to select 10 on 1 theme and 10 on another theme

The themes are

1 . Fashion , editorial and directed portraiture
2. Architectural and industrial interiors and exteriors
3. Urban and rural landscapes
4. Social and documentary
5. An alternative assignment can also be used if agreed with the tutor

The two themes that I'm going pick are

Theme 1
1. Macro photography
Theme 2
2. Architecture

Macro

My first theme id like to pick is Macro i have done some before for a natural history project using my 50mm/1.8 lens and some cheap macro filters +1/+2/+4/+10 that screw on the front of the lens , i have just got a new macro lens and would like to see how it compares so i hope to get some good images

Architecture

My second choice is architecture i have not done much of it before part from passing snaps as i pass a few buildings , so it will be nice to take more time and study the architecture around me .

I am quite new to photography only getting my first camera 5 years ago A 6mg pixs Kodak z650 digital camera I had a lot of fun using it , I used it for the 1st course I went on at the botanical gardens a short course on how to use your camera this is the 1st time I used manual settings and have never gone back .

Took in the garden faces the glass houses

After I finished that course i wanted to get a certificate in photography and saw a course at a local adult education course
It was Ncfe photography level 1 it was use of camera controls Explore and develop image production skills and produce and evaluate a range of photographic images . At the end you had to have a portfolio of 12 images , I choose to do my favourite place and took 12 images from Stratford upon Avon . Half way though this course I managed to get a canon 450d at a curry’s opening day sale I was really pleased and used this for the rest of the course .
Here is a sample of my work from Ncfe level 1

After i finished level 1 I went back the year after a done Ncfe level 2 Certificate in photography
At the start i picked action and movement , still life and natural history
For my final 12 photos portfolio i picked natural history

My level 2 work

Now I hope to study this city and guilds level 3 at Burton college I am amazed how much equipment there is and how good the studio is . I am use to a run down adult education centre with just 2 portable stands and lights
I have not work in a studio before so wouldn’t mind a try . I am not sure what certificate to go for but wouldn’t mind trying some macro work , Id like to get some units towards a diploma so if I come back next year and I could do the other units I need .
